It's hard to pick a single speakerphone that is the best overall, but some models stand out, which is why they are at the top of this list. These incorporate the Jabra Speak2 55 and Speak2 75, as well as the Beyerdynamic Space Max and AnkerWork S600, the latest expansion to this rundown. We also like the value-priced EMeet Luna Plus.
Since 2020, I've tested every speakerphone on this list and spent hours evaluating dozens of them. I look at how they work as speakerphones, how they sound when listening to music, and the connectivity options they provide (as well as any other notable special features). For Windows PCs and Macs, they all come with some kind of wired USB connection, and many of them also have a Bluetooth option so you can connect wirelessly. In addition, some include UC Bluetooth dongles that are compatible with the universal communication format that is the industry standard. A more dependable Bluetooth connection to computer speakers is made possible by that USB dongle. Speakerphones with UC Bluetooth support can be pricier than UC headsets.
I've also included some of the best budget speakerphones for those who want to spend less than $100 (or even less than $50) because premium speakerphones can be pricey. You can use almost all of the speakerphones on this list at home or on the go because they are lightweight and portable. A list of the best headsets for working from home is also included. Some individuals dislike wearing anything in or on their ears. A good speakerphone can be useful in this situation.
AnkerWork S600
The AnkerWork S600 is a novel take on the speakerphone category. It's basically a small Bluetooth speaker and a magnetic wireless charging dock with fast Qi2 wireless charging technology, but it costs about $180. For recent MagSafe-enabled iPhones and Android devices that support fast wireless charging, that will provide up to 15 watts of charging. The speaker has four microphones and does a good job of reducing noise. People who called said that my voice sounded the clearest and most natural (not robotic). I was using a speakerphone, and no one could tell.
The magnetic phone stand is integrated into the unit's top and can be tilted up or down 70 degrees. It works well for smartphone video calls and watching videos (you can use it in landscape or vertical mode). On the front of the speaker, you can adjust the volume, answer and end calls, mute, and pause and play buttons. Even though this speaker only produces 5 watts, it has two passive radiators that provide adequate bass for music listening. This model definitely sounds better for listening to music and watching movies than the other speakerphones from Anker, which have a design that is more akin to a puck and is more flat. There is only one speaker.
It has a companion app for iOS and Android that lets you upgrade the firmware and create a voiceprint that "enhances and highlights your voice in meetings and reduces distractions." In wired mode, you can connect it to a computer via USB-C. Another way to put it is that the speaker will be better able to cut out background noise other than your voice. At moderate volume levels, the S600 has a battery life of up to 16 hours.
Jabra Speak2 55
For 2024, Jabra has redesigned its speakerphone lineup, adding three new, redesigned models that will eventually take the place of the company's previous Speak 410, 510, and 710. The Speak2 55, which is the middle model in the lineup and costs only a little bit more than the Speak2 40, which I haven't tried yet but seems similar to me, is the cheapest option.) It is the same size, and both the Speak2 40 and Speak2 50 have drivers that are 50 millimeters long.) The most expensive model, the Speak2 75, has the best sound quality and lasts significantly longer in wireless Bluetooth mode, 32 hours versus 12 for the Speak2 55. It is expensive and might be too much for some people.
All of the new models from Jabra come equipped with an integrated USB-C cable and a USB-A adapter, allowing you to plug the speaker directly into a Mac or Windows PC, which I like. The Speak2 55 is relatively small, weighs 280 grams (9.88 ounces), and it comes with a nice felt carrying case. This makes it easy to slip into a bag and take with you when you're on the go for conference calls. Although it supports Bluetooth 5.1, it does not include a USB Bluetooth dongle that can be plugged into a PC for more dependable wireless connectivity.
It has four beamforming noise-canceling microphones with technology for reducing background noise. People I was talking to said that my voice sounded clear, and I thought the sound output was better than that of the Anker PowerConf S500, which costs a little bit more. You can listen to music with the Speak2 55, but don't expect great sound quality. Although it is acceptable for casual listening, there is insufficient bass. It should come as no surprise that the larger and more expensive Speak2 75 provides superior sound.
eMeet Luna Plus
With a list price of $100, eMeet's upgraded version of the original Luna speakerphone is the Luna Plus. However, with an instant coupon at Amazon, it frequently sells for $80 or less. It is made to compete with Anker's PowerConf (more on that later). It's not quite as sleek as the PowerConf, and unlike that model, it doesn't come with a protective carrying case. In addition, its microphone performance is satisfactory, but its clarity is not quite as high as that of the Jabra Speak 510 or Speak2 55 (see below). It is pretty small and light, and it does a good job of reducing noise.
Although it is not particularly good for music listening, the speaker does sound loud and clear, and it is versatile: You can use Bluetooth to go wireless, plug the speaker into the USB port on your computer using the cable that comes with it, or use the wireless dongle for a Bluetooth connection that is more reliable.
According to eMeet, you can add up to 18 additional people by daisy-chaining it with other eMeet speakerphones. This is useful if you run a business with multiple employees who work from home or have a very large family. Ten hours of talk time are predicted for the battery life.
